Plume is a private journal for iPhone, iPad and Mac: no account, no tracking, and your entries never leave your devices unless you choose encrypted sync.
Plume is a journaling app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, built around a daily habit: something you’re grateful for, a moment worth keeping, one thing you got done. It needs no account and collects no data. Entries stay on your device, with optional end-to-end encrypted iCloud sync. Plume is made by Guillaume Voisin, an independent developer.
Plume is a private journal for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Each day starts with three short prompts, a gratitude, a memory and an accomplishment, next to a free-form page and a distraction-free Zen mode. A calendar holds one entry per day, and Insights show streaks, word counts and the themes that keep coming back. Plume has no account and no server that holds journal entries. Its App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”. Sync is optional and goes through the user’s own iCloud, encrypted on the device first with a passphrase only they know. AI is off by default. When it is on, it can run on the device with Apple Intelligence or a local model, or with the user’s own API key. Plume has no AI server of its own. The first 21 writing days are free. After that, Plume turns read-only rather than locking anyone out: reading, search, sync and export keep working.

Local-first, no account
Entries live on the device. Optional iCloud sync is encrypted before upload with PBKDF2 and ChaCha20-Poly1305. Nothing phones home.

Never locked out
The trial counts days you write, not calendar days. When it ends, Plume goes read-only. Entries, search, sync and export keep working.

AI with no server
Apple Intelligence on the device, a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, or the user’s own API key. It reflects on what you wrote. It never writes for you.

Menu bar checklist, ⌘K command palette with date search, recordable global shortcuts, and any section in its own window.

Commits in your journal
On the Mac, Plume can read local git repositories and lay out your commits day by day, ready to file under that day’s accomplishments.

Voice journaling with on-device transcription, text from a photographed paper page, and entries read aloud on the Neural Engine.
